Agriculture sector severely neglected in budget: Sheikh Waqas Akram

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram has said that the agriculture sector has been severely neglected in the budget and nothing has been given to the farmers.

During a press conference in Islamabad, Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the government has been taking revenge on farmers for the past three years because they supported Imran Khan. Farmers are distressed due to low crop prices, expensive fertilizer, and costly tractors.

He said the agriculture sector was badly ignored in the budget; farmers were given nothing, and even solar GST was imposed on struggling farmers.

He added that the government did not include a farmer package in this budget, nor were facilities for fertilizer and tractors provided to farmers. Agricultural development in the country is almost non-existent. Anyone who is an enemy of farmers is, in fact, an enemy of Pakistan.

Sheikh Waqas Akram said that cotton production has decreased by 34 percent, and farmers across the country are facing enormous challenges. The agriculture sector is suffering losses worth billions of rupees. We ask: who is responsible for these billions in losses?

He said there was a time when we were proud of cotton exports, but today even cotton is in crisis. Facilities like fertilizer and tractors have not been provided to the farmers.
