Karachi Inter Board students demand that scrutiny fee is not a concern, they will check their own copies

Students affected by the recent results of the Karachi Inter Board remain dissatisfied with the chairman’s measures. The students stated, "Whether a committee is formed or the scrutiny fee is waived, we are not concerned. We want to check our exam copies ourselves."

The Inter Board administration responded by saying that allowing millions of students to check their own exam copies is impractical. However, students with significant discrepancies in their scores are welcome to visit the Inter Board office, where they can check their copies under the board’s supervision.

On Wednesday, Exam Controller Zarina Rashid, while speaking at her office, announced that the board has accepted the demand to waive the scrutiny fee. She further added, "Students who scored 80% or 85% in matriculation but received less than 50 or 55 marks in eleventh grade will be shown their copies."

After reviewing the exam papers, students will be asked to provide honest feedback during interviews. The scrutiny process will be completed within 30 days, and results will be sent to the homes of students who scored low. "If anyone remains dissatisfied even after this, they are welcome to visit the office," Zarina Rashid assured.

She explained that the scrutiny form can be downloaded from the official website of the Inter Board. "Initially, the scrutiny fee for one paper was set at Rs. 1,000, which was reduced by 50% to Rs. 500. Now, for the convenience of students, the scrutiny fee has been completely waived. This year, for the first time, the scrutiny process will involve checking the papers, unlike before, when only recounting was done."

Meanwhile, students with low scores insisted, "Even if the scrutiny fee is not waived, we must have the right to check our own copies. We want the freedom to review any paper ourselves; only then will we be satisfied. Sending the result home is meaningless—who will check the copies, when, and how? If our marks are not increased, our future will be ruined. Another solution must be found; otherwise, we will have to switch boards or leave the country altogether."
