Upon opening the navigation drawer, some Android users are spotting a “Search chats” field right at the top. Tapping it launches a dedicated fullscreen search interface, designed to help users quickly sift through past conversations. This feature first appeared in May on gemini.google.com, followed by a gradual rollout on iOS in recent weeks. Personally, as an Android user, I’ve only been accessing Gemini search via the Progressive Web App (PWA) — a temporary workaround that recently adopted the new app icon.
Currently, chat search hasn’t seen a full-scale rollout on Android. Similarly, the new hamburger menu and navigation drawer remain in limited testing and haven’t reached the stable channel (or iOS) yet. Features like the new four-color glow overlay for Gemini interactions are also still in the experimental stage, and in several places, legacy logos are still being displayed.

Just yesterday, Google App version 16.26 was pushed broadly to the stable release channel. It came bundled with a server-side update introducing a refreshed blue “Hello” greeting, which is now live across all platforms, along with the animated four-color “thinking” ring — signaling Google's evolving design language for Gemini.
