Up to three Veo 3 videos can be created by free users starting this weekend and ending on Sunday at 10 p.m. PT. Gemini CEO Josh Woodward clarified on Thursday that in order to manage the trial run, Google is "pre-loading a batch of TPUs."
By July, Gemini AI Pro members were already receiving three Veo 3 fast generations per day, while Ultra subscribers gained access to the full model, including photo-to-video conversions. For the free trial, users will be limited to Veo 3 Fast—a lighter version that renders twice as quickly but still outputs at 720p resolution.
Hints of the feature may already appear when you open the Gemini app. If not, you can manually enable it by tapping the three-dot menu in the prompt bar and selecting the new option: “Video: Create with Veo.”
Prompts need to be descriptive—laying out the scene, style, background music, and even optional dialogue or ambient sounds. After a few minutes, Gemini delivers the clip, stamped with a Veo watermark badge in the bottom right corner. Users can either download their creation or share it via a generated link.
