Muzaffarabad: Two Demonstrators Killed and Multiple Injured in Firing |
According to details, after a decrease in the prices of flour and electricity in Muzaffarabad, clashes erupted between demonstrators and law enforcement agencies. This confrontation led to direct firing by officials, resulting in the deaths of two young individuals and injuries to fourteen demonstrators, five of whom are in critical condition.
Following the firing, protesters set three vehicles on fire and staged a sit-in on the main highway of the city, accompanied by the bodies of the deceased. After civilians were injured in the firing, appeals were made to them to donate blood upon reaching the CMH Hospital.
After the unrest in Muzaffarabad, internet services were once again completely shut down, and mobile services were temporarily suspended. Clashes between protesters and police also occurred at various locations, with police resorting to shelling and protesters pelting stones at officials.
Representatives of the Public Joint Action Committee reached the scene and expressed solidarity with the demonstrators, announcing that the funeral prayers of the deceased youths would be offered tomorrow at 2 p.m.
According to sources, the Public Action Committee has demanded an immediate meeting after the recent unrest and violence to announce the next course of action.
Elsewhere, after the unrest in Muzaffarabad, protests against the government have once again erupted in various areas, including Kotli and Khui Ratta.
Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, commenting on the current situation in Muzaffarabad, said that today's events are nothing short of a tragedy, a sorrowful loss of precious human lives, demanding immediate action from the government. He appealed for law enforcement agencies to show restraint and for the responsible individuals of the Action Committee to play their role in controlling the situation.
Meanwhile, the President of Tehreek-e-Insaf Azad Kashmir and former Prime Minister, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, expressed condolences for the youth's deaths in Muzaffarabad and demanded prompt and transparent investigations into the incident.
Abdul Qayyum Niazi questioned why, despite the ban on PTI Azad Kashmir, Rangers were called in by Chief Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq. He said that although the government of Azad Kashmir was urged to refrain from using force against protesters, force was still used. Who is responsible? Why the clash after the announcement of the Public Action Committee's demands? This also needs transparent investigations.
Protests were also held in Rawalpindi and Mirpur to express solidarity with Kashmiris, with a large number of citizens participating and demanding transparent investigations into the public killings."
