The demands of the public action committee in Pakistan-administered Kashmir accepted

In a move to address the demands put forward by the Public Action Committee (PAC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), new notifications have been issued for the prices of flour and electricity.

AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq said that there was already a subsidy on these items, which has been further increased, although it will put an additional burden of Rs 23 billion on the national exchequer.

AJK Power Department issued a notification on the reduction in electricity prices, according to which the price of electricity for domestic consumers will be Rs 3 per unit for the first 100 units, Rs 5 per unit for 100 to 300 units, and Rs 6 per unit for consumption above 300 units.

For commercial consumers, the price will be Rs 10 per unit for the first 300 units and Rs 15 per unit for above that.

According to the notification, the new prices of flour will be Rs 1000 for 20 kg fine flour and Rs 2000 for 40 kg fine flour.

AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq said in a news conference that the reduction in electricity and flour prices in AJK is a permanent solution. It will also be part of the upcoming budget. 'Both local government and federal grants will be included in this regard,' he said.

He said that the local government will save maximum resources to solve the problems of the people by reducing the concessions. He further said that 'nine billion rupees have been saved in the last one year.'
