Nationwide Shutdown Strike on August 28 Will Definitely Take Place, says All Pakistan Traders Association

The President of All Pakistan Traders Association, Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry, has stated that there will be no negotiations with the government, and the nationwide shutdown strike on August 28 will definitely be successful.

While addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club alongside officials from various Karachi trader organizations, Kashif Chaudhry said that the government's false assurances and empty promises cannot deceive the traders.

He added that the shutdown strike is to protect businesses and the economy, and it will be successful for the protection of traders across the country and the improvement of the economy.

Kashif Chaudhry emphasized that traders have pledged to develop the national economy and to resist the Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR) bullying tactics. The strike will not end, nor will negotiations take place, until a notification to revoke the anti-trader scheme is issued.

He warned that until the notification to end the anti-trader scheme is released, the strike will continue. A small group of government-favored individuals is trying to make superficial changes to the anti-trader scheme's SRO, but they will face defeat.

Kashif Chaudhry asserted that traders, through unity and consensus, will secure their rights. There will be no negotiations until the anti-trader scheme is withdrawn, withholding tax is abolished, and electricity and gas prices are reduced. The strike will also continue if there is no revision of the IPPs agreements.

He said that the idea of negotiating with puppets is out of the question, and they will not engage in any talks. If the anti-trader scheme is withdrawn and other demands are met, then they will reconsider, but no negotiations will occur until their demands are fulfilled.

Kashif Chaudhry emphasized that there is no division among traders, and those spreading such false propaganda have no place in the traders' ranks.

He further stated that the government has already destroyed the economy, and now traders will not allow any further economic devastation.

According to Kashif Chaudhry, the government is frightened by the success of the nationwide shutdown strike scheduled for August 28. Traders are the largest tax contributors in the country and are not afraid of anyone.

He warned that if any action is taken against the traders, the government will be responsible for the reaction. If any action is taken against even a single trader, they will respond forcefully.

Kashif Chaudhry also mentioned that K-Electric is exploiting the people of Karachi, and the city, which contributes 64% of the country's revenue, has been turned into a garbage dump by incompetent authorities.

He added that traders and the public in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh have already pledged the success of the shutdown strike. Meetings will also be held with trader leaders in Balochistan to finalize the action plan.

At the event, other trader leaders such as Sheikh Habib, Atiq Mir, Hakeem Shah, Rashid Khan, Rana Muhammad Akram, Qais Mansoor Sheikh, Asif Gulfam, Aslam Bhatti, Asim Qureshi, Waqar Hameed Memon, Kamran Memon, Abdul Rahim Agha, Lala Furqan, Meraj Ahmed Khan, Shakir Umar Gujar, Javed Siddiqui, Rashid Ali Khan, Sheikh Khalid Noor, Javed Siddiqui, Mehmood Azam, Hussain Qureshi, Abdullah Batra, and a large number of trader representatives were also present.
