Karsaz Accident Case: Prohibited Substance Detected in the Accused's Urine Samples

The medical report of the accused driver involved in the death of a father and daughter in a car accident on Karsaz Road, Karachi, has been received by the police.

According to sources, the test results of the accused driver's urine samples revealed the presence of a prohibited substance, while no intoxicants were found in her blood samples.

The accused's medical report has been sealed for 2 to 3 days.

Following the incident, the Senate Standing Committee on Health requested the accused's report on August 22.

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Health, Amir Chishti, stated that a report on the accused’s tests and health has been requested from the Jinnah Hospital administration, as there were public doubts regarding the tests and other proceedings.

It is worth mentioning that the incident occurred on August 19, when a car driven by the accused collided with a motorcycle carrying Amina Arif and her father, resulting in their deaths.

The speeding car on Karsaz Road near National Stadium not only hit the motorcycle but also collided with another vehicle. One of the vehicles was completely destroyed in the accident, and the responsible woman was arrested by the police.

New details have emerged in the medical report of Natasha, the accused in the Karsaz accident case that resulted in the deaths of a father and daughter.

According to sources, the report revealed that after the accident, blood and urine samples were taken from Natasha, and tests indicated the presence of "ice" (a prohibited substance) in her urine.

SSP Investigation stated that the report is currently being kept confidential but has been included in the investigation and will be presented in court.

Earlier, Karachi Police decided to form a special investigative team to probe the Karsaz accident case filed against Natasha.

The accused is charged with the murder of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his daughter Amina Arif near the Karsaz area on August 19.

According to the police investigative team, all CCTV footage has been collected and is being examined by investigators.

The investigation revealed that the woman has been repeatedly changing her statements. Police sources reported that the accused was traveling from her home in DHA Scheme One to her in-laws' residence, approximately 3 to 4 kilometers away, when the incident occurred. The police team confirmed that the accused's car was registered under a private company.

The investigation disclosed that new charges have been added to the case, including Section 322 (Qatl-bis-sabab - manslaughter without intent), which carries the penalty of blood money. Under Section 322, the accused could face 10 to 18 years in prison.

Additionally, the victim's family could choose to settle, known as Diyat (blood money), under which the suspect would be required to pay compensation equivalent to 30,360 grams of silver, approximately valued at 6.8 million PKR.

If the family accepts the settlement, the case may be closed. Meanwhile, the police team is working to obtain more CCTV footage to aid the investigation. The DIG East urged other individuals injured or who suffered property damage in the accident to come forward and record their statements with the police.

The DIG assured that the investigation is ongoing and that justice will be provided to the bereaved family of the deceased father and daughter. He also visited the victims' residence in Gulzar-e-Hijri, Scheme 33, offered condolences to the grieving family, and assured them of full legal support. DIG Mahesar pledged that the police would ensure transparency at every level.

It is noteworthy that the woman who ran over Amina and Imran Arif on Karsaz Road on Monday, injuring five others, is currently in judicial custody under the orders of a Karachi East court, which directed that she be presented in court the following day and requested her medical report.
