During its tenure in power, the government increased the prices of petroleum products up to 129.25 rupees per liter, while the basic tariff for electricity was increased up to 15.41 rupees per unit. Similarly, gas rates were also increased by up to 112 percent, leading to historic highs in their prices.
When it comes to petroleum products, the price of petrol was increased by 123.09 rupees per liter, and high-speed diesel was made expensive at 129.25 rupees per liter.
Electricity consumers endured the burden of separate three-month and monthly adjustments alongside heavy bills throughout the entirety of this government's tenure. Consumers were burdened with an additional cost of over 150 billion rupees. Just a few days before the government's end, there was an increase of 7.5 rupees per unit in the basic tariff for electricity.
Last year, an additional surcharge of 3.39 rupees per unit was imposed separately on electricity consumers, and gas consumers faced an extra burden of more than 310 billion rupees.
