Police Arrest PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Aamir Mughal Outside the Parliament House

Islamabad police have arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar, along with Sher Afzal Marwat, Aamir Mughal, and Shoaib Shaheen.

The police arrested Barrister Gohar, Aamir, and Sher Afzal Marwat outside the Parliament House. Sher Afzal Marwat’s vehicle was stopped by the police outside the Parliament, and both he and his guard were taken into custody.

However, after the arrests, there was confusion regarding which police station the PTI leaders would be taken to. The team responsible for Marwat's arrest was uncertain whether to take him to Sangjani or Sumbal police stations. Eventually, he was transferred to the Secretariat police station.

Additionally, PTI leader Advocate Shoaib Shaheen was also arrested by Islamabad police. He was taken into custody from his office.

Earlier, a heavy police presence was deployed outside the Parliament in anticipation of possible arrests of PTI members. The police had sealed the entrances and exits of the Red Zone, completely closing it off from D-Chowk and NADRA Chowk.

In light of the potential arrests, PTI leaders decided to exit the Parliament together. Along with Zartaj Gul, Zain Qureshi, Aamir Dogar, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Sher Afzal Marwat was also present.

However, when Sher Afzal Marwat attempted to leave in his vehicle, the police arrested him. After conducting checks on Margalla Road, the police allowed vehicles to pass, but teams were stationed at checkpoints within the Red Zone.

The police stated that all routes leading to the Red Zone remained closed as usual, and a large police force was deployed outside the Parliament for the joint session.

Due to the closure of the Red Zone, traffic congestion built up on Margalla Road, causing difficulties for citizens trying to exit the area.

Previously, the Red Zone's entrances were only closed in emergency situations.

It’s important to note that PTI had held a political rally in Sangjani Cattle Market, Islamabad, the previous day, which saw large participation from party leaders and workers.

However, after 7 PM on Sunday, the Islamabad administration ordered PTI leadership to immediately end the rally and vacate the venue due to a violation of the No Objection Certificate (NOC). The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad had issued written orders for the rally to be concluded by 7 PM, warning that legal action would be taken for violating the NOC.

The NOC had allowed PTI to hold the rally from 4 PM to 7 PM, but the rally did not conclude on time.

Later, PTI workers allegedly violated the designated routes while heading towards the rally, prompting police action. A clash occurred between the police and PTI workers, during which stones were thrown, injuring SSP Safe City and several other officers. PTI workers claimed that the police had tried to block them first.

The police responded by using tear gas and shelling. There were attempts to make arrests, but no official confirmations of arrests were made at that time.
