ECC Approves Grants for Ministries and Funds for Steel Mill Employees' Salaries

The Cabinet’s ECC has approved over PKR 930 million for technical supplementary grants to various ministries and for paying salaries to Pakistan Steel Mills employees.

According to the issued statement, the ECC meeting was chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The statement noted that the ECC approved a technical supplementary grant of PKR 910 million for the Ministry of National Food Security, as well as over PKR 930 million for paying salaries to Pakistan Steel Mills employees.

Additionally, the ECC approved the annual rebasing summary for the Power Division. The committee directed that the rebasing be implemented from January 1, 2025, upon completion of the regulatory process.

The statement further detailed approvals for a technical supplementary grant of over PKR 90 million for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and over PKR 940 million for the Ministry of Interior.

Similarly, supplementary grants were approved for Frontier Corps’ expenses for the current fiscal year, along with the return of bank guarantees for Afghan transit trade.

The ECC also approved the budget proposals of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis for the current fiscal year. It expressed concern over delays in the audit of the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).

The committee directed a thorough investigation into the audit delay and demanded a report be submitted within a week.
