According to a report by the Qatari news outlet Al Jazeera, a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office stated that the cabinet endorsed the agreement after reviewing its political, security, and humanitarian aspects.
The statement noted that the Security Cabinet has recommended the government approve the agreement, which will now be presented to the full cabinet for a vote.
It is worth noting that on January 15, an agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas for the exchange of hostages and prisoners.
He added that the announced ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas would open pathways for delivering aid to Gaza.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani stated that the Gaza ceasefire agreement would come into effect on Sunday, January 19.
He explained that the first phase would last for 42 days, during which a ceasefire would be observed, and Israeli forces would withdraw from populated areas.
He also mentioned that Israeli forces would remain stationed along the Gaza border while allowing displaced individuals to return to their homes as part of the exchange of prisoners and hostages.
The Qatari Prime Minister further noted that the first phase of the ceasefire would include increased delivery of aid across all parts of Gaza, restoration of hospitals, health centers, and bakeries, and provision of essential resources such as fuel, civil defense equipment, and basic necessities for displaced individuals.
As part of the agreement, Hamas will release 33 Israeli hostages, including women, children, the elderly, the sick, and the injured. In return, Israel will release an unspecified number of detainees held in its custody.
