According to well-known tipster Tarun Vats (via SamMobile), Samsung is preparing one last update for S25 owners — but it’s still for One UI 7 rather than the upcoming One UI 8. Vats posted on August 31 that the “final One UI 7 update” is expected to arrive as part of Samsung’s September security patch rollout.
This update could be a hefty one, reportedly weighing in at 1GB or more, and is being described as the last major revision to One UI 7 (Android 15) before One UI 8's eventual release (Android 16). Vats didn’t share details on the exact contents of the patch but did note it should be released “soon.”
Naturally, this has sparked speculation: could Samsung unveil One UI 8 by late September or perhaps in early October? The company already continued its One UI 8 beta testing through August, addressing various bugs in the process.
The Waiting Room for One UI 8
Samsung experienced various issues with the One UI 8 beta in August. Testers of the Galaxy S25 Ultra reported a strange purple tint when photographing the moon under high zoom levels (30x, 50x, and 100x) with Intelligent Optimization enabled. The issue also appeared under different settings for some users. Samsung urged participants to submit detailed feedback through the Members app.
Although many assumed Beta 4 would wrap up testing, Samsung surprised users with Beta 5 in late August. That update was massive — nearly 1.78GB — and packed with fixes ahead of the full Android 16 release. It resolved problems with Do Not Disturb (DnD), improved quick settings behavior, added richer media previews, and squashed a number of other bugs.
With Beta 5 behind us, speculation is mounting that One UI 8 could officially debut sometime in September.
