This newly built hospital, located near SIUT’s main campus in Karachi, has been made possible through a generous contribution exceeding 7 billion rupees by the family of renowned philanthropist Bashir Dawood. The Sindh provincial government is also expected to provide additional funding to further expand the facility.
The 14-story state-of-the-art hospital offers advanced services including pediatric cardiac surgeries, dialysis, urology, and complex surgical procedures. It is equipped with modular operating theaters, a hybrid cardiac cath lab, and modern ICUs, all aimed at providing world-class care for children.
In line with the vision of Professor Adib Rizvi, the founder of SIUT, all medical services at the hospital will be completely free of cost. His philosophy rests on the belief that healthcare is a basic human right, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy.
The Maryam Bashir Dawood Children’s Hospital is more than just a medical institution—it stands as a symbol of commitment to ensure every child in Pakistan receives free and quality healthcare.
According to SIUT sources, around 80,000 to 100,000 children in Pakistan are born each year with congenital heart and kidney diseases. Experts warn that without timely treatment, these conditions can be not only life-threatening but also lead to lifelong disability.
