NEPRA Reduces Electricity Prices as per Prime Minister’s Announcement, Special Relief for Karachi

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification reducing electricity prices, providing relief to consumers. According to the notification, electricity prices for Karachi consumers have been reduced by Rs. 3.02 per unit.

NEPRA issued the notification under quarterly adjustment for the period of October to December 2025.

As per the notification, the price reduction will be applicable to all DISCOs consumers, including K-Electric, for three months (April to June 2025), providing a total relief of Rs. 56.38 billion to consumers.

However, the price reduction will not apply to lifeline and prepaid consumers.

Electricity Price Reduction for Karachi Consumers

NEPRA stated that DISCOs had requested a reduction in electricity prices under quarterly adjustment, which was reviewed during a hearing. Following this, a reduction was also made in the monthly fuel price adjustment nationwide.

According to the NEPRA notification:

  • K-Electric consumers will receive a price reduction of Rs. 3.02 per unit.

  • For the rest of the country, electricity prices have been reduced by 46 paisas per unit.

Separate notifications have been issued for the monthly adjustment, and the relief will be reflected in consumer bills from April onwards.

For K-Electric consumers, the reduction applies under the January 2025 monthly adjustment, while for the rest of the country, the reduction is based on the February 2025 adjustment
