Karachi Airport to Remain Closed for Flight Operations Until Midnight

Karachi Airport to Remain Closed for Flight Operations Until Midnight

A decision has been made to suspend flight operations at Karachi Airport until midnight, and the Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a new NOTAM (Notice to Airmen).

According to details, the new NOTAM extends the suspension of flight operations in Karachi until 12:00 AM.

Airport officials stated that the closure has been extended by another six hours due to operational reasons. Landings and takeoffs at Karachi Airport were initially halted at 11:00 AM.

Flights from Qatar Airways, Jazeera Airways, Air Arabia, and FlyDubai have been waiting for departure for over 10 hours. Due to the airport closure, 43 flights in Karachi have been canceled, while 65 are facing uncertainty.

On the other hand, airports in Lahore, Islamabad, and Sialkot have been reopened for flight operations.

The spokesperson clarified that reports claiming a complete closure of Lahore’s airspace are baseless. The city's airspace is safe and available for flights.

Lahore Airspace Closed Again

Earlier, it was reported that in light of Pakistan-India tensions, Lahore’s airspace had once again been closed.

Due to operational reasons, Lahore and Sialkot airports will not be available for passenger flights until 6:00 AM tomorrow.

The spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority advised passengers to stay in touch with their respective airlines for updated flight information to avoid inconvenience.

The reasons for the airspace closures have not yet been disclosed; however, the move may be due to security or weather-related concerns.

This morning, flight operations at Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, and Islamabad international airports were temporarily suspended due to escalating Pakistan-India tensions.

It is worth noting that following Indian attacks on Pakistan during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday — and Pakistan’s prompt and forceful military response — India again violated Pakistani airspace by sending drones last night and earlier today, which were successfully shot down by security forces.
