Samsung Galaxy Phones Finally Switch to Vertical Scrolling App Drawer in One UI 7

After sticking with a paged app drawer for many years, Samsung is finally introducing a vertical scrolling app drawer in its new One UI 7 update for Galaxy smartphones.

While vertical scrolling app drawers have become standard across almost every version of Android, Samsung maintained a paged app drawer that relies on separate pages to store your apps. There were workarounds, like using third-party launchers or Samsung's Good Lock, but officially, it was always a slower, horizontal experience.

Finally, that's changing.

With the launch of the One UI 7 beta today, Samsung has introduced a vertical scrolling app drawer for Galaxy devices. This new experience is now the default on the home screen and, notably, it is not optional. There are no direct settings to revert to the horizontal, paginated view. Instead, you can only do this by switching to "Custom" order settings.

Other settings you can use to adjust the home screen and app drawer include changing the view to five columns instead of four or completely disabling the app drawer for an iOS-like home screen experience (though why anyone would sign up for that is beyond me). You can now adjust app icon sizes, turn off app labels, and enable widget labels.

What do you think about this change? Do you prefer pages in the app drawer?
