In the weekly inflation report released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, it was stated that during the past week, there was a further 0.27% decrease in the rate of weekly inflation. On an annual basis, inflation was recorded at a negative growth rate of 2.06% last week.
According to the data, 23 items became cheaper, 8 became more expensive, and prices of 20 items remained stable over the past week.
The report noted that during the past week, the prices of potatoes increased by 3.75%, jaggery by 2.25%, sugar by 2.13%, LPG by 14.86%, chicken by 2.17%, broken basmati rice by 0.84%, powdered milk by 0.97%, mustard oil by 1.12%, tea by 0.39%, diesel by 3.10%, and petrol by 1.88%.
According to the report, eggs became cheaper by 9.53%, tomatoes by 5.62%, gram lentils by 0.35%, garlic by 1.03%, bananas by 0.01%, firewood by 0.01%, and ghee by 0.17% during the previous week.
The data also showed that, based on the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), the annual inflation rate for households earning up to Rs. 17,732 per month decreased by 0.05% to -3.08%. For those earning between Rs. 17,733 and Rs. 22,888, inflation dropped by 0.05% to -4.11%.
Similarly, for households earning between Rs. 22,889 and Rs. 29,517, the inflation rate decreased by 0.10% to -2.40%. For those earning between Rs. 29,518 and Rs. 44,175, it dropped by 0.13% to -1.48%.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, for households with a monthly income above Rs. 44,176, the inflation rate declined by 0.42%, settling at -0.63% over the past week.
