The announcement first appeared on Google’s official Twitter account, followed quickly by a playful response from WhatsApp’s own handle. Although the little promotional video (linked below) does not cover every aspect, the main idea is obvious: beginning with the formal shipping of the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro XL on August 28. The video shows a Pixel user answering a WhatsApp call while “satellite mode” is active.

As with most satellite features, fine print appeared at the beginning of the video—though not much was disclosed. Aside from the standard “restrictions, terms, and conditions apply,” Google noted that service will depend on participating carriers and may come with extra charges on top of regular bills. Functionally, the requirements remain typical for satellite calls: being outdoors with clear sky access, and accepting potential latency compared to normal cellular networks.
Google has promised a more detailed blog post to flesh out the technical and billing specifics in the near future.
