According to details, the wave of protest sit-ins in Sindh shows no sign of stopping. The sit-in by the lawyers at Khairpur's Baberlo Bypass has entered its sixth day, and protesters from Mirpurkhas have also joined them.
Sources report that protests in Ghotki and Pano Aqil have led to a petrol shortage, while in Daharki, protesters have stopped trucks traveling to Punjab on the national highway.
Due to the protests against the controversial canal project, traffic has come to a standstill. The delivery of potato and onion containers has been disrupted. In Thatta, protesters have taken to the streets on two different highways—Makli and Gharo. In Qambar Shahdadkot, the main highway between Sindh and Balochistan is blocked due to sit-ins, causing severe inconvenience for commuters.
Protesters say that food items in the vehicles are spoiling and the livestock are collapsing from hunger and thirst.
In Naushahro Feroze, local hotel owners have doubled the prices of food and beverages. In Sukkur and surrounding areas, long queues of vehicles have formed on the National Highway, with drivers stuck for six days now reaching the limits of their patience.
Protesters have vowed to continue their demonstrations until the controversial canals project is canceled.
