Google Play Store Now Lets You Buy and Send Digital Gift Cards Directly on Android

Among its latest updates, Google Play Store has introduced a convenient new feature: you can now purchase and send digital gift cards directly from the Play Store app on Android — no need to visit external websites or third-party apps.

If the feature has rolled out to your device, you’ll notice a new “Gift Cards” option in your profile menu, positioned between “Payments & Subscriptions” and “Play Protect.”

A scrolling carousel at the top showcases “Top Brands,” including Google Play itself, with gift card values ranging from $15 to $100. Cards are available across a wide variety of categories — retail, fashion, beauty, food, entertainment, home, travel, and electronics.

Once you select a brand, you can choose from multiple card designs and customize the amount. Under the “Delivery” section, you simply enter the recipient’s email address (and optionally add a personal gift message). The recipient will then receive a link to their gift card via email or text message.

Google has partnered with Blackhawk Network to power this integration. Gift cards will now appear in search results, key in-app placements, and personalized promotions — including curated deals that highlight premium brands.

“Bringing digital gift cards directly into the Play Store means users can now discover, purchase, and send value without jumping between apps or websites,” said Fernanda Murphy, Google Play’s Global Head of Retail & Payments Marketing. “It also provides brands with a seamless and trustworthy way to connect with customers.”
