Karachi: Unusual Increase in Deaths Over the Past Four Days

There has been an unusual increase in deaths in Karachi over the past four days, with 427 bodies brought to the Edhi mortuaries.

According to Dawn News, the head of the Edhi Foundation, Faisal Edhi, stated that 427 bodies were brought to the Edhi mortuaries in the past four days.

He mentioned that the number of bodies brought daily has more than doubled.

Faisal Edhi said that with the heatwave, the number of deaths in the city has increased, with 78 bodies brought on June 21, 86 on June 22, 128 on June 23, and 135 on June 24.

The head of the Edhi Foundation noted that on average, 40 bodies are brought to the mortuaries on regular days, and only doctors can determine the causes of these deaths.

Faisal Edhi added that most of the bodies came from poor neighborhoods and areas affected by load shedding. He suggested that the government should take measures to close businesses during the hottest hours, and citizens should follow precautions to avoid heat.

According to Chhipa Welfare, the number of deaths due to the heatwave is 14.

Karachi is experiencing extremely hot and humid weather, with the current temperature recorded at 39 degrees Celsius, and it is expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius today.

According to the Meteorological Department, the humidity in Karachi's atmosphere is 48%, making the heat feel like 50 degrees.

The weather in Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid over the next three days, with the maximum temperature reaching 39 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Today's temperature in Karachi could reach 40 degrees Celsius, with hot winds from Balochistan blowing from the northwest during the day.

The Meteorological Department has stated that the weather in most parts of Sindh is expected to be extremely hot over the next three days, with temperatures in Ghotki, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Larkana likely to reach between 46 to 48 degrees Celsius.

In Hyderabad, Umerkot, Tharparkar, and Badin, temperatures are expected to remain between 44 to 46 degrees Celsius.

Rain with thunder is expected in Jamshoro, Tharparkar, and Thatta today and tomorrow.

Thunderstorms and rain are possible tomorrow in Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, and other locations.
