Special Committee meeting at Parliament House, Maulana Fazlur Rehman's proposal to postpone the Constitutional Amendment Bill till tomorrow

A special committee meeting was held at Parliament House regarding the proposed constitutional amendment, in which Maulana Fazlur Rehman suggested postponing the bill until tomorrow.

The meeting of the Special Committee on Rules and Procedures regarding the proposed constitutional amendment has commenced at the Parliament House. The head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, also attended. During the meeting, the JUI leader proposed to the government to defer the bill until tomorrow.

Throughout the day, delegations from both the PTI and the government were seen visiting Maulana Fazlur Rehman's residence, attempting to persuade him to support them in the assembly and senate sessions. However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman decided not to side with anyone without reviewing the bill.

Finally, the meetings concluded, and while speaking to the media afterward, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri stated, "How can we vote on a bill we haven't seen or read? We have requested not to present the bill. We will openly express our stance in the meeting. The government is rushing, and we have asked them to postpone it so that we can read the bill."

Despite this, the government claimed that they had the required numbers to pass the bill.

After lengthy meetings, Maulana Fazlur Rehman arrived at the National Assembly to attend the Special Committee on Rules and Procedures. Attendees of the meeting included Raja Pervez Ashraf, Rana Tanveer, Irfan Siddiqui, Anusha Rehman, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Ijaz ul Haq, and Syed Naveed Qamar.

Senator Aimal Wali Khan, Senator Sherry Rehman, Omar Ayub, Barrister Gohar, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza were also present at the committee meeting.

Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazir Tarar, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, and former Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar also attended.

When Maulana Fazlur Rehman arrived at the assembly, journalists surrounded him. In response to their questions, he said, "There will be good news for the nation."

A journalist asked, "Maulana, will you convince PTI?" A meaningful smile spread across Maulana's face in response.

Another journalist asked, "The draft is not being shared with you. Does the government not trust you?" Fazlur Rehman proceeded without answering.

When Maulana Fazlur Rehman reached the committee room, Mohsin Naqvi escorted him, and the Deputy Prime Minister welcomed him at the door.

When the meeting, chaired by Khursheed Shah, began, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan briefed the participants.

During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman suggested to the government that the constitutional amendment bill be deferred until tomorrow.
