Three-month-long civil disobedience movement will be the final blow for the government: Sheikh Waqas Akram

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram has stated that if the civil disobedience movement against the government continues for three months, it will serve as the final push to topple the regime.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Sheikh Waqas Akram revealed that the first phase of the civil disobedience campaign involves urging overseas Pakistanis to withhold remittances.

He explained that under the current circumstances, calling for civil disobedience became unavoidable. The first phase, which involves a call to suspend remittances from abroad, is already underway. This movement directly targets the government and its leaders. According to him, if overseas Pakistanis refrain from sending money for three months, it will deal a decisive blow to the ruling authorities.

Sheikh Waqas clarified that if political prisoners are released, further steps could be reconsidered. However, he stressed that the call to suspend remittances is not intended to promote illegal money transfers such as hundi or hawala.

Regarding PTI Chairman Imran Khan, he noted that any negotiations will not be conditional on the outcome of his sentencing. He affirmed that Imran Khan would only be released through a legal verdict, not via any deal. "We are not seeking a deal; we are demanding justice for our martyrs and imprisoned members," he concluded.
