According to details, during a search operation in Kurram district, police arrested 30 individuals, including 18 terrorists, in Lower Kurram.
The joint operation was carried out in various areas, including Bagan, Charkhel, Dad Kamar, Mandori, and Ochat.
Police stated that during the operation in Kurram district, 12 facilitators were also arrested. The terrorists had looted more than 30 trucks traveling to Parachinar.
According to police, the terrorists set fire to 19 trucks, and raids are ongoing in Kurram, Orakzai, and Kohat to apprehend more terrorists.
Two Killed in Swat
Meanwhile, two people were killed in Matta, Swat, due to an old enmity. The assailants fled after the shooting, and police have begun an investigation.
According to police, the firing was the result of a longstanding dispute. The deceased were identified as Shabbir and Shaukat, and their bodies were shifted to Matta Hospital.
Deteriorating Security Situation in Kurram: Government Orders Evacuation of Four Villages
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decided to evacuate four villages in Lower Kurram due to the deteriorating law and order situation. Search operations will be conducted against insurgents in these areas.
According to government sources, villages named Ochat, Mandori, Dad Kamar, and Bagan will be vacated, and action will be taken against armed elements present there.
In a high-level government meeting, it was decided to ensure public safety and set bounties on the heads of criminals and masterminds. Additionally, the demolition of bunkers in the district will continue at an accelerated pace.
According to the district administration, following the Kohat peace agreement, the operation against bunkers is ongoing, with 194 bunkers already demolished across the district.
In Lower Kurram’s villages Balish Khel and Kharkali, 117 bunkers have been demolished, while in Upper Kurram’s Pewar and Tari Mangal, 77 bunkers have been dismantled.
142 Days of Blocked Main Road: Citizens Facing Hardships
Meanwhile, the only main road connecting Parachinar and Thall has been closed for 142 days, causing severe difficulties for the local population.
According to social activist Ali Jawad, around 1,500 students and nearly 2,000 overseas Pakistanis are stranded in the area. Many citizens' visas have expired, and students fear losing their academic year.
He stated that due to the unavailability of fuel, public transport has completely stopped, while petrol and diesel are being sold at exorbitant prices in the black market. Citizens are struggling to commute from one place to another.
The Transport Association and local residents have urged the government to reopen the routes immediately to address the public's hardships.
