The feature is currently in beta and available on grok.com and the official Grok apps for iOS and Android—though not yet accessible in the EU or UK. Full integration into X is expected soon.
If you’d rather not have your chats stored, you can easily disable the memory feature. Just head to Settings > Data Controls and switch off “Personalize with memory.” You also have the option to chat in Private Mode—accessible via the ghost icon in the top right—which doesn’t save any messages.
Interestingly, on iOS, the memory setting is turned off by default, so users must opt in manually. Grok’s memory system is designed to be transparent: it shows you exactly what it remembers and allows you to delete anything at any time.
If Grok references a previous conversation in a reply, you can tap the book icon below the message to see the exact quotes it's pulling from. You’ll get a sidebar with past messages, and if you’d prefer Grok forget something, just select “Forget” from the options menu.
The memory sidebar feature is currently available on the web, with an Android rollout expected soon.
