Based on Oakley’s stylish HSTN (pronounced “Houston”) frame design, these smart glasses are being marketed as Meta’s first product line tailored equally for athletes and fans. The limited-edition Oakley x Meta HSTN, featuring gold accents, is priced at $499 and will be available for pre-order starting July 11. The standard collection starts at $399 and is expected to hit the market later this summer.
Outfitted with a front-facing camera, open-ear speakers, and a built-in microphone, the glasses let users listen to music, take photos, and handle calls with ease—hands-free and on the move.
The standout feature is Meta AI, fully integrated into the glasses. You can ask real-time questions like, “Hey Meta, how windy is it today?” or even command it to “Take a video.” Want to know what landmark you're looking at? Ask Meta. Need on-the-go translation? It’s got that covered too.
Battery-wise, the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses are built to last. You get up to 8 hours of active use and up to 19 hours on standby. A quick 20-minute charge juices the battery up to 50%, and the included charging case extends usage by another 48 hours—ideal for life in motion.
They come in six frame and lens combinations:
-
Warm gray frame with ruby lenses
-
Black frame with polarized black lenses
-
Brown smoke frame with polarized deep water lenses
-
Black frame with amethyst lenses
-
Clear frame with gray lenses
-
Black frame with clear lenses
All variants are prescription-lens compatible (at extra cost), and select models feature Oakley’s advanced Prizm Lens Technology for enhanced vision across different lighting and weather conditions—boosting clarity, contrast, and overall performance.
The glasses will initially launch in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Meta also plans to release them in Mexico, India, and the UAE by the end of the year.
According to Meta, these smart glasses represent the next chapter in its long-term collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Oakley, Ray-Ban, and other major eyewear brands. Impressively, over 2 million pairs of Meta Ray-Ban glasses have already been sold, as per EssilorLuxottica’s FY2024 financial report.
