According to details, a significant development has taken place in the £190 million case as the Islamabad High Court has set June 26 as the hearing date.
The Registrar's Office has issued the cause list, confirming that the hearing on the sentence suspension pleas of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi will be held on June 26.
It is worth noting that on May 15, the Islamabad High Court had issued notices to both parties in response to the sentence suspension pleas filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
The court had directed that the petitions be scheduled for hearing in the following week.
Earlier, Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif had heard the pleas for sentence suspension in the £190 million case.
Background of the Case
On January 17, 2025, Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana, in a courtroom set up in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, convicted Imran Khan in the £190 million reference, sentencing him to 14 years in prison, while his wife, Bushra Bibi, was handed a 7-year sentence.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs. 1 million on Imran Khan and Rs. 500,000 on Bushra Bibi. In case of non-payment, Imran Khan would face an additional six months in prison, and Bushra Bibi three more months.
About the Case
The £190 million (also known as Al-Qadir Trust) case alleges that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, during PTI’s tenure, received billions of rupees and hundreds of kanals of land from Bahria Town Limited in exchange for giving legal cover to £190 million sent by the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Government of Pakistan.
The case is linked to the alleged unlawful acquisition and construction of land for the Al-Qadir University. It involves accusations of illegal financial benefits derived from the £190 million NCA settlement in a money laundering case against Malik Riaz and his family.
Imran Khan is also accused of concealing facts about the deal from the federal cabinet, misleading them during the approval process.
