Sindh’s Rs 3 Trillion Budget to Be Presented Tomorrow, Tax Collection Rate Likely to Increase

Sindh’s budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 will be presented tomorrow. The budget, valued at over Rs 3 trillion, will be presented by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

Acting Governor of Sindh, Awais Qadir Shah, has summoned the Sindh Assembly session for 3 PM tomorrow. Prior to the assembly session, a provincial cabinet meeting will be held at 10 AM, where approval for the new fiscal year’s budget will be sought.

According to sources, an increase in the tax collection rate is expected in the Sindh budget. A 10% salary increase for government employees in Sindh is also anticipated. The new fiscal year is likely to see the launch of new transport projects.

An increase in the development budget of Sindh is expected. A proposal has been made to allocate Rs 160 billion for development schemes across various departments.

The budget includes 1,168 schemes from ten departments including the Home Department, Agriculture, Prisons, and Energy. A proposal has been made to allocate Rs 80 billion for 675 schemes under the Works and Services Department, including jails.

Proposed allocations include:

  • Rs 11 billion for the Home Department

  • Rs 51 billion for Health

  • Rs 8 billion for School Education

  • Rs 9.7 billion for 60 schemes in Agriculture, Supply, and Prices

  • Rs 4.9 billion for 38 schemes in Livestock and Fisheries

  • Rs 2.8 billion for 44 schemes in Culture, Tourism, Archives, and Antiquities

  • Rs 6.5 billion for 210 schemes in Sports and Youth Affairs

  • Rs 39 billion for 77 schemes in Services, General Administration, and Coordination

  • Rs 1.8 billion for Industries and Commerce

  • Rs 0.4 billion for 2 schemes in the Investment Department

  • Rs 12.8 billion for 16 schemes in the Energy Department

  • Rs 12.7 billion for 28 schemes in the Planning and Development Department
