Rickshaws Banned on 20 Roads in Karachi

Entry of rickshaws has been banned on 20 roads in Karachi for two months. The Commissioner of Karachi has issued a formal notification in this regard.

According to details, the ban has been enforced based on recommendations by the DIG Traffic, and the notification was issued by the Karachi Commissioner.

As per the notification, rickshaws — both 3-seaters and 5-seaters — are now completely banned from entering the following roads: Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Sher Shah Suri Road, Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Abdullah Haroon Road, Do Talwar Shahrah-e-Firdous, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Rashid Minhas Road, Mauripur Road, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Hub River Road, Quaidabad to Landhi 89, University Road, Korangi Road, Orangi Road, Super Highway to Malir Halt, and the Sarjani Abdullah Chowk route.

The ban will be in place for two months, and traffic police have been granted full authority to enforce it.

It is worth noting that last month, a similar ban was imposed on 11 roads. However, traffic police were reportedly unable to effectively enforce the restrictions, and the latest ban has also been introduced due to public complaints about disrupted traffic flow on unauthorized rickshaw routes.
