Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, stated that the Mahajirs, who had been facing disappointment for 50 years, had stopped applying for these jobs, but the decision of the Sindh High Court is a ray of hope. The Sindh High Court has called a halt to jobs distributed based on prejudice, hatred, and racism for 50 years.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi with other leaders, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed gratitude to the Sindh High Court and its decision on June 30, 2024. He mentioned that the decision is tied to the hope and faith of our nation. For 50 years, 56,000 jobs were distributed in a manner that created division, identity, prejudice, and racism, and now the court has called for a pause.
He stated that the Mahajirs, who had been facing disappointment for 50 years, had stopped applying for these jobs because there was no benefit. Pakistan's constitution and principles state that jobs from scale 1 to 15 should only be given to local people, to the people of the streets and neighborhoods. After 50 years, this decision has finally come, and the nation should be grateful.
The federal minister mentioned that whatever happened in these 50 years did not happen suddenly; it was all part of a systematic conspiracy and planning. Through the division of Pakistan, the balance of power and numbers in Pakistan was disrupted. One balance was of power and numbers, and the other was of landlords and industrialists.
He said that a few days after the tragedy of the fall of Dhaka on December 16, 1971, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto took power on December 22 or 23 and sealed the conspiracy of Pakistan's division by raising the hateful slogan of "here we, there you." Bhutto, who threatened to break the legs of those who went to the assemblies, was given the task of attacking quality after numbers.
He mentioned that Bhutto took power on December 22, 1971, and on January 2, 1972, under the name of nationalization, all schools, colleges, banks, insurance companies, industries, and trade were handed over to feudalism. Instead of nationalizing, they were seized.
The convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan said that if there had been a party like MQM at that time, we would have at least stood in the courts. Sindh was the only province where, after urban and rural, linguistic division was also present. Bhutto, who took most of the seats from Punjab, did not implement the quota system in the rural areas there. A racist ruler and a racist government first gave legal support to this racism and prejudice, and then it was given constitutional status.
He asked the Chief Justice to see how many jobs have been given in the past 50 years out of the 40% quota allocated for Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. By making fake domiciles of the urban areas of Sindh, almost 80% of jobs have been usurped in these 50 years.
He mentioned that the 18th amendment was made for the distribution of power, but power has been gained through it, and it has brutally strengthened the feudal system. The quota system was initially created to protect this feudal system. In the rural areas of Sindh where there were no primary schools, how could the children of farmers go to medical colleges? If the son of a farmer had become a doctor, engineer, or deputy commissioner, we would have felt that our sacrifice had benefited someone, but for 50 years, the worst form of the feudal system has existed in Sindh.
At this occasion, Farooq Sattar said that due to the quota system, a gulf was created among the people of Sindh. The biased and unjust goals were achieved through the quota system in Sindh.
He said that the quota system prevented the province of Sindh from reaching its destination. More than 80% of our quota jobs were not given to the youth here. We could not eliminate the misuse of the quota system in 50 years, but under Khalid Maqbool’s leadership, we have ended the feudal and biased use of the quota system.
Farooq Sattar stated that the Sindh High Court has endorsed our stance, and the MQM has initiated a journey against the feudal and biased system.
