Following the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Pakistan Army has initiated court-martial proceedings against General (Retd.) Faiz Hameed. In a press release issued by ISPR, the Top City case was mentioned along with "multiple violations of the Pakistan Army Act."
Senior journalist Hamid Mir, in his analysis on a private TV channel, revealed that "there are three or four other cases against Faiz Hameed, and investigations into these matters were ongoing. The Top City case is well-known, and investigations into it were completed quite some time ago."
Hamid Mir stated, "Faiz Hameed has served as the head of ISI and as the Corps Commander of Peshawar. He had significant connections within Pakistan's political elite. He tried to use his influence to avoid investigations and made strenuous efforts to meet with the current Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif. He even sent messages and some members of Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet recommended that he meet with General Faiz. However, Shehbaz Sharif refused to make any contact or meet with General Faiz."
According to Hamid Mir, "Recently, some investigations took place. Rumors were spread about General Faiz Hameed, suggesting that he was under severe restrictions, in custody, or under house arrest. However, none of this was true; he was completely free. His freedom became the precursor to his problems as his communications were being monitored. During this time, it was also discovered that General Faiz Hameed had a role in the planning of the events of May 9, 2023, and that he was involved in advising on the attempted rebellion."
Hamid Mir claimed, "Last year, some evidence surfaced regarding Faiz Hameed. When he was the DG ISI, he attempted to have certain political figures and journalists assassinated, and some concrete evidence in this regard has been obtained."
Hamid Mir further stated, "The government recently discovered that he was still in contact with some leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and was trying to dictate to them. In fact, a PTI leader complained to the party leadership that General Faiz was trying to dictate to them, asking what they should do. They were told that there was no need to listen to him. This information reached the government, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered an investigation into the matter."
Hamid Mir also mentioned that apart from the Top City case, there are three other cases under investigation against Faiz Hameed.
