After a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, the Kuki Khel tribe of Khyber announced the end of their protest and march.
The Kuki Khel tribal elders from Khyber district met with Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, along with MNA Iqbal Afridi, MPAs Sohail Afridi, Abdul Ghani Afridi, the Commissioner of Peshawar, and the Deputy Commissioner of Khyber.
The meeting involved extensive discussions on the issue of the temporary displaced persons (TDPs) of the Kuki Khel tribe returning to their areas. The participants agreed to immediately start the registration process for the return of the people from the cleared areas.
It was also agreed that a meeting with the relevant authorities would be held next week to formulate a plan and timeline for the return of the remaining people.
Based on the Chief Minister's assurances, the tribal elders announced the cancellation of the proposed march of the displaced persons towards Tirah, and they also ended their 75-day protest on the Torkham highway.
The tribal elders expressed full confidence in the Chief Minister for establishing a plan for the return of the displaced persons, and they commended his leadership in resolving the issue peacefully on October 11.
The elders stated that the Chief Minister's wisdom and leadership skills had prevented bloodshed. They noted that, just as he had successfully resolved the Bannu and October 11 issues, they were confident he would resolve their issue as well.
Ali Amin Gandapur expressed his gratitude to the Kuki Khel elders for trusting him to resolve the issue and promised to do his utmost to live up to their expectations.
The Chief Minister stated that a meeting would be held next week with the relevant stakeholders to establish a rehabilitation plan for the displaced persons. He acknowledged the great sacrifices made by the tribal people in the war against terrorism, noting that they had left their homes and endured hardships for the sake of peace in the country. He emphasized that their dignified return and resettlement were top priorities.
The Chief Minister directed the relevant authorities to begin the procurement of necessary supplies and other requirements for the return and resettlement of the displaced persons.
