Students Protest Over CSS Exam Dates, Demand Postponement Until Results Announcement

Students have strongly protested against the scheduled dates for the CSS 2025 exams, demanding that the exams be postponed until the results of CSS 2024 are announced. Several candidates have formally submitted requests to the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) via email and hard copies to delay the CSS 2025 exams.

During a press conference at the National Press Club Islamabad, students, including Khateeb Khan and Mahmood Khan Rodhawlo, along with others appearing for CSS 2025 from across the country, expressed concerns over holding the CSS 2025 exams without announcing the CSS 2024 results. They demanded that the exams be delayed until the results are declared.

Key Concerns Raised by Students

  • Students complained that they are given limited time for preparation. Several federal-level exams have been postponed due to various reasons, yet CSS 2025’s screening test (MPT) was delayed by 41 days, severely affecting their preparation for the written exam.
  • They emphasized that past CSS exam results play a crucial role in guiding candidates’ preparation strategies and improving their future attempts. Historically, FPSC announces results in October, allowing students to plan accordingly. However, candidates aged 29 and 30 will not be eligible for CSS 2026, making it unfair for them to appear in CSS 2025 without knowing their CSS 2024 results.
  • The CSS 2025 MPT was not only delayed but also exceptionally difficult compared to previous years, leading to over 10,000 candidates failing, highlighting the increasing difficulty level of the test.
  • Students from underprivileged areas such as FATA, Balochistan, and Sindh face educational disparities. They first prepare for the MPT, and only after passing it, they start preparing for the final written exams. Due to limited preparation time, many struggle to pass, and FPSC records show that reserved seats for these regions often remain vacant due to this issue.

Impact of FPSC’s Scheduling Issues

  • Hundreds of students received their MPT results as late as January 6, causing mental distress and affecting their exam preparation.
  • FPSC has repeatedly altered its schedule, including:
    • Delays in CSS 2025’s MPT
    • Three delays in the CSS 2023 special exam, eventually held in October 2023
    • Delays in the CSS 2022 exam, which was conducted in May 2022 due to the introduction of the MPT

Students Demand Postponement

Students reiterated that multiple candidates have formally submitted requests to FPSC to postpone CSS 2025 through emails and hard copies.

They cited political instability in 2009, where exams were delayed due to High Court directives, as an example of how such measures create uncertainty and difficulties for aspirants. Many candidates risk wasting an attempt due to poor scheduling and mismanagement, as they are not being given adequate preparation time.
