In the first phase, financial aid will be provided to mothers of newborns and pregnant women in 13 districts. The program will initially start in Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, and Kot Addu, and will later include Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Khushab, and Lodhran.
Pregnant women will receive Rs. 2,000 upon their first registration at health centers or Maryam Health Clinics. Additional financial assistance will be provided for each medical check-up during pregnancy. After receiving free medical check-ups at these centers, beneficiaries can collect their financial aid from designated Aaghosh program cash agents.
Under the program:
- Pregnant women will receive Rs. 1,500 per health center visit, totaling Rs. 6,000.
- A Rs. 4,000 grant will be provided upon childbirth at a registered health center.
- Rs. 2,000 will be given for the newborn’s first medical check-up within 15 days of birth.
- Rs. 5,000 will be provided for registering the baby’s birth certificate at the health center.
- Rs. 4,000 will be granted for the child’s vaccinations, with Rs. 2,000 per session.
Additionally, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the launch of a special toll-free helpline to guide and assist women regarding the program.
She emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental right of every mother and child, and the government is committed to fulfilling its responsibility. She noted the difficult conditions faced by mothers and children in hospitals and stressed that public resources must be prioritized for underprivileged and remote areas.
Maryam Nawaz further stated that alongside improving healthcare services in disadvantaged areas, the government is also providing financial assistance to women. She expressed hope that the Aaghosh program will ensure both mothers and children start a healthy life.
