Imran Khan Meets Bushra Bibi After Adiala Jail Superintendent's Court Summons

Imran Khan Meets Bushra Bibi After Adiala Jail Superintendent's Court Summons

Following a court summons issued to the Adiala Jail Superintendent, former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was allowed to meet his wife, Bushra Bibi.

According to Adiala Jail regulations, spouses are permitted a 30-minute meeting on Tuesdays. However, jail authorities had denied the meeting on three previous occasions, prompting Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, to file a contempt of court petition.

Jail sources confirmed that the meeting was facilitated after a contempt notice was issued.

Speaking to the media, Faisal Chaudhry stated that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi met for 30 minutes in the jail’s conference room, in accordance with the jail manual. This was their second meeting following the verdict in the £190 million reference case.

Faisal Chaudhry also mentioned that they had approached the Islamabad High Court after repeated denials of the meeting.

He accused jail authorities of obstructing meetings despite court orders and noted that a petition regarding restrictions on meetings with PTI leaders is also pending in the high court.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court had earlier summoned the Adiala Jail Superintendent in person on February 27 for failing to arrange a meeting between Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
