It is worth noting that the process of listing banned organizations began on August 14, 2001, when the state banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Sipah-e-Muhammad Pakistan. Later, on January 14, 2002, the government imposed bans on Jaish-e-Muhammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Sipah Sahaba Pakistan, Tehreek-e-Islami, and Tehreek Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi.
According to the Punjab government’s statement, providing any form of assistance to banned organizations is a criminal offense under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
The statement further warned that those who support banned organizations involved in terrorism and anti-state activities will face legal action.
Additionally, the Punjab government emphasized that all charitable organizations in the province must be registered with the Punjab Charity Commission.
Citizens have been urged to give their Zakat, charity, and donations only to organizations registered with the Punjab Charity Commission. The government also informed that the legitimacy of registered organizations can be verified through QR codes on their certificates.
The notification advised citizens to ensure their donations reach the rightful recipients rather than terrorist groups. Details of registered charities can be found on the Punjab Charity Commission’s website.
Moreover, complaints about fraudulent organizations, terrorist activities, anti-state actions, or groups working for personal gains can be reported to the Punjab Home Department. Any fundraising by banned organizations can be reported via the toll-free number 0800-11111 or helpline numbers 042-99214871 and 042-99214872.
