Leak Suggests Galaxy S26 Ultra May Feature a Slimmer Body and New 12MP Telephoto Camera

Leak Suggests Galaxy S26 Ultra May Feature a Slimmer Body and New 12MP Telephoto Camera

With Samsung’s latest generation of foldables now officially launched, attention is rapidly shifting to what’s next—the company’s crown jewel: the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Early leaks suggest that this upcoming flagship could look even more refined and polished than its predecessors.

Industry tipster Ice Universe has released fresh insights about Samsung’s next S Pen-equipped Ultra device, just days after sharing details about its battery. Once again, Ice is doubling down on the inclusion of a 5,000mAh battery, even as rivals like OnePlus and Nothing experiment with silicon-carbon battery cells. While not flawless, these newer batteries allow for greater capacity in thinner designs—a tradeoff that Samsung still seems cautious about, likely haunted by the catastrophic Galaxy Note 7 battery fiasco nearly a decade ago.

Camera Upgrades and Thinner Design on the Horizon

Fortunately for Samsung fans, there’s good news beyond just battery talk. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to retain its 200MP primary sensor alongside a 5x 50MP periscope telephoto lens—though it's unclear whether Samsung is sticking with the exact same hardware. Even more notably, Ice Universe claims with “90% certainty” that the base 3x telephoto lens is being upgraded to 12MP, up from 10MP on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While megapixel numbers don’t tell the whole story, this would still mark a technical improvement in terms of raw resolution.

Despite packing the same 5,000mAh battery, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be noticeably slimmer than the S25 Ultra. The current model already feels weighty and bulky in the hand, especially when held beside sleeker flagships like the S25 Edge. Any attempt to reduce that bulk—possibly by applying design lessons learned from the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7—would be a welcome move. Ice Universe also hints that faster charging could be on the cards for the S26 Ultra, possibly closing the gap with more aggressive competitors in the fast-charging race.

Launch Timeline and Early Incentives

The Galaxy S26 lineup isn’t expected to launch anytime soon. Assuming Samsung sticks to its usual schedule, the series should debut around January next year.

Meanwhile, reservations are now open for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. Customers who pre-register can receive a $50 bonus credit and save up to $1,150 depending on trade-ins and bundles. Signing up is completely free, and there’s no obligation to actually purchase the device. However, it’s the only time you’ll get that $50 credit—ideal for picking up accessories like the Galaxy Watch 8—plus 3x reward points and other exclusive perks.
