The scenes in Rafah are heart-wrenching, and the killing of Palestinians is unacceptable, Canadian FM Mélanie Joly

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stating that the killing of innocent Palestinians is unacceptable under any circumstances.

Speaking in Parliament, Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said that Canada's stance on the Rafah operation has been very clear for several weeks: the mass killing of innocent Palestinians is unacceptable, and we adhere to international court decisions on this matter.

Calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, she said that even during war, there are certain humanitarian principles that must be followed. However, the scenes we have witnessed in Rafah are heart-wrenching, and Palestinians no longer have any safe places left.

Addressing the Speaker, Mélanie Joly said that the situation in Palestine is devastating, which is why we are demanding an immediate ceasefire.

Later, in a post on the microblogging site (X), she wrote, "We are horrified by the killing of civilians due to Israeli bombing in Rafah. Canada does not support any Israeli military operations in Rafah."

She added, "We demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and the cycle of inhumane events must end."

It is worth noting that two days ago, 45 innocent civilians were killed in brutal Israeli bombing in Rafah, considered the safest area of Gaza. According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, over 36,000 Palestinians have been martyred in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023.
