Kyrgyzstan locals attack foreign students, 14 Pakistani students injured


Local people in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, attacked foreign students, injuring several Pakistani students. However, the embassy has not yet confirmed any deaths.

According to the state news agency 'APP', quoting the Pakistani embassy in Bishkek, local people in Bishkek attacked foreign students, including Pakistanis, who had a fight with Egyptian nationals a few days ago.

Attacks were carried out on several medical university hostels and private residences of international students, including Pakistanis, in Bishkek.

Contrary to social media posts, the embassy said that no Pakistani student has been confirmed dead or raped.



In view of the mob violence, the embassy has strongly advised Pakistani students to stay indoors.

In a social media post, Pakistan's Ambassador to Bishkek, Hasan Ziqam, assured that the embassy is in contact with local law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of Pakistani students.

Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch also shared the ambassador's message and wrote that the embassy is in contact with the Kyrgyz authorities for the facilitation of Pakistani students, their safety is of paramount importance to the ambassador and his team.

PM Shehbaz Sharif directs embassy to provide facilities to students

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed concern over the attacks on Pakistani students in Bishkek.

According to Dawn News, Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Pakistani ambassador to provide all necessary assistance.

The Prime Minister said that the embassy in Kyrgyzstan is in contact, monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has directed the Pakistani ambassador to personally visit the hostels and meet the students.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had a telephone conversation with Pakistan's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Hasan Ali Ziqam.

Pakistani Ambassador Hassan Ali Ziqam informed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif about the situation and said that no Pakistani was killed in the incident, the embassy is assisting the injured students.

The Prime Minister emphasized that he should stay in touch with the parents of the students, provide them with regular updates, and directed the embassy to provide all medical facilities to the injured students.

The Prime Minister directed that arrangements should be made for the immediate return of those injured students who wish to return to Pakistan.

Former Senator Mushahid Ahmed demanded on social media that the government of Pakistan immediately summon the Kyrgyz ambassador to Pakistan and express its concern over the threats faced by Pakistani students in Bishkek and its environs and request the protection of Pakistani students.
