10 Days of the New Year: 23 People Killed in Traffic Accidents in Karachi

Despite meetings held by police officers last year to prevent rising traffic accidents and ensure compliance with traffic laws, fatal traffic incidents continue to claim lives and injure citizens in Karachi in the new year.

According to data released by Chhipa officials, during the first 10 days of January 2025, traffic accidents in various parts of the city claimed the lives of 23 people, including women and children, while 261 others were injured.

The statistics show that on Port Qasim Showroom Road, a 40-year-old man, Ali Muhammad, lost his life in a traffic accident, and a 65-year-old unidentified man was killed near Shahbaz Signal in Defence Phase 7 after being hit by a tanker.

In North Karachi near 4K Chowrangi, a 35-year-old man, Naseer, died in a traffic accident near Pakiza Bakery. A 40-year-old unidentified man was killed near Benazir Park in Clifton, a 65-year-old man near Numaish Chowrangi, and a 36-year-old man, Amjad, near Ghani Chowrangi in the SITE area. Additionally, a 45-year-old man, Shahid, was killed near Nasir Jump, Korangi, and a 40-year-old unidentified person lost his life near Hub River Road, Baldia. A 25-year-old man, Abdullah, was killed near Korangi Chamra Chowrangi.

In another incident, a 45-year-old unidentified woman lost her life near Nursery Bridge on Shahrah-e-Faisal, and a 30-year-old woman was killed near the Airport Small Gate after being hit by a bus. A 21-year-old girl, Nazish, died in a collision between two buses near DHA City on the Super Highway. In North Nazimabad, a 5-year-old boy, Rizwan, lost his life near Ship Owner College, and a 5-year-old boy, Ehsanullah, was killed near the Northern Bypass Indus Cut after being hit by a trailer.

Further, a 16-year-old unidentified person was killed near DHA City on the Super Highway, a 12-year-old boy, Danish, died near a textile mill on the highway, and a 2-year-old girl, Shazia, lost her life after being hit by a tractor-trolley near the Wednesday Market at NIPA. On Thursday, a 3-year-old girl, Hoorain Fatima, was killed by a water tanker near Alfalah Chowk in Machhar Colony, while two motorcyclists, 44-year-old Jameel and 30-year-old Akbar, were killed after being hit by a water tanker near Hub River Road, Baldia, near the Sharjah Shopping Mall.

On Friday, two motorcyclists, Nauman and Israr, lost their lives after being hit by a water tanker near Shaheed Millat Flyover, while a 32-year-old man, Faiz Muhammad, was killed after being hit by a tanker near Ghaggar Phatak Bridge on the National Highway.

In addition to the fatalities, a total of 261 people were injured in traffic accidents during the first 10 days of January.
