A meeting of Parliament’s Finance Committee, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, was held yesterday to prepare these recommendations.

During the meeting, it was decided that the salaries of parliamentarians would be aligned with those of Punjab Assembly members.

Currently, a parliamentarian's salary is PKR 218,000, and the Speaker has recommended increasing it to PKR 519,000.

Sources indicate that, upon the Prime Minister’s approval, the matter of salary increments will be referred to the relevant standing committees of both houses.
