Google Maps Will Soon Predict More Than Just Traffic

Google Maps Will Soon Predict More Than Just Traffic

Users will be able to see parking availability, fuel efficiency, and estimated arrival time at a glance.

Google Maps is set to become even more user-friendly in the coming months, providing users with essential travel details before they even begin their journey.

With the new update, users will see information such as parking availability, fuel efficiency, and estimated time of arrival (ETA) right on the app’s main screen. This feature is currently being tested on a small scale and is expected to be rolled out in future updates.

More Travel Information at a Glance

Until now, Android users could only see three key details on Google Maps: traffic conditions, distance, and travel time. However, according to Android Police, Google will soon provide additional insights, including parking availability, fuel-saving routes, and accurate arrival times, right on the main screen.

With this update, users won’t need to search separately for parking information. Instead, a designated "P" icon will indicate whether parking spots are available at their destination. Similarly, fuel-efficient routes will be clearly marked, allowing users to choose between the fastest route or the one that saves more fuel.

How Will Fuel-Efficient Routes Be Displayed?

Currently, users have to swipe up on the route options panel to view fuel-efficient routes, which are marked with a "leaf" icon. However, the new update will make these details more prominent, helping users make quick and informed decisions.

When Will This Feature Be Available to All Users?

At the moment, this feature is being tested with a limited group of users, mainly those with high-ranking Local Guide status on Google Maps. While there’s no official release date yet, it is expected to be introduced to a wider audience soon.

This update is part of Google Maps’ ongoing improvements, following recent additions like weather-related alerts and live navigation updates. With this new feature, trip planning will become even easier and more efficient, especially for daily commuters.
