Reduction of One Rupee in Petrol Price is an Insult to the Nation, Traders React

The All Pakistan Traders Association has criticized the mere one-rupee reduction in petrol prices, calling it a joke with the nation, despite a proposed reduction of Rs. 17 per liter.

The All Pakistan Traders Association and the Traders Action Committee have demanded that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif fulfill his promise of reducing petrol and electricity prices.

In a joint statement, Ajmal Baloch, President of the All Pakistan Traders Association, along with Khalid Chaudhry, Secretary and Convener of the Traders Committee ICCI, and other trader leaders, said that for the past month, there had been propaganda that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would announce a significant reduction in electricity tariffs.

They stated that a Rs. 17 per liter reduction in petrol price had been proposed, but the cut was not implemented due to electricity costs. Instead, only a one-rupee reduction in petrol and electricity prices was announced, which they termed as a cruel joke with the people.

The traders further criticized that the Minister of Power and Water is unaware of the taxes imposed on electricity bills.

They added that free electricity for certain sectors is a huge burden on the public, amounting to nearly Rs. 700 billion, while taxation on solar energy is a conspiracy against investment.

The All Pakistan Traders Association urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to honor his commitment and significantly reduce the prices of electricity and petrol.
