Nisar Khuhro, President of PPP Sindh, has declared that on Wednesday, April 2, protest torchlight rallies will be held in all tehsil headquarters across Sindh in the evening against the six-canal project on the Indus River.
In a video statement, Nisar Khuhro reiterated that PPP would lead these rallies across all tehsil headquarters in Sindh to oppose the controversial project. He urged all PPP tehsil-level organizations to mobilize public support and organize the rallies in the evening.
The PPP Sindh president emphasized that the water crisis cannot be resolved with a one-day protest; sustained pressure is needed to address the issue. He asserted that water is a matter of Sindh’s future and survival.
Khuhro further stated that the PPP stands with the people against the canal project, as it is detrimental to Sindh and is therefore unacceptable to its people. He reaffirmed that the party and the people of Sindh are protesting to protect their rights and will continue their democratic struggle against the project.
He declared that the protest movement would persist until the government officially withdraws from the six-canal project. The PPP, along with the people of Sindh, would resist any attempt to seize Sindh’s water resources.
Earlier, in a press conference in Karachi alongside PPP Sindh leaders Waqar Mehdi and Aijaz Dhamrah, Nisar Khuhro had announced a series of protests and rallies across all district headquarters against the project.
