Government to Launch Digital Portal for Asset Disclosure of Public Officials Under IMF Condition

The federal government has decided to launch a digital portal for the mandatory disclosure of assets by public officials, in line with the conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). A draft for this initiative has been prepared by the Ministry of Finance and the Cabinet Division and is expected to be presented to the IMF for approval.

Key Features of the Digital Portal

  • The portal will require all government officials to declare their assets transparently.
  • The initiative aims to ensure accountability and prevent corruption within the bureaucracy.
  • The digital system will streamline asset disclosures, making the process more efficient and accessible.
  • The government will finalize the details after further negotiations with the IMF.

Other Financial Measures to Address Revenue Shortfalls

To tackle the revenue shortfall, the government has also decided to expedite pending tax cases in courts. The Prime Minister's Office will play a direct role in ensuring that these cases are resolved quickly, aiming to generate additional revenue.

Ongoing IMF Negotiations

The IMF delegation is currently in discussions with Pakistani officials regarding:

  • Electricity and gas tariffs
  • Circular debt management
  • National accounts transparency

The final draft of the asset declaration portal is expected to be submitted to the IMF soon after further deliberations. This step is part of broader economic reforms and transparency measures required to meet the IMF’s loan conditions.
