Shawwal Moon Sighted in Pakistan, Eid-ul-Fitr to be Celebrated Tomorrow

Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, has announced the sighting of the Shawwal moon for the Islamic year 1446 Hijri. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Pakistan tomorrow.

The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, was held in Islamabad to observe the moon. Officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Meteorological Department were also present.

During a press conference after the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabir stated that the sky remained clear in most parts of the country, and multiple testimonies of moon sightings were received from various locations, including Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Gujranwala. Therefore, Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed nationwide on Monday, March 31.

After the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad prayed for the country's progress, stability, and the eradication of terrorism and extremism.

It is noteworthy that the federal government has announced Eid-ul-Fitr holidays from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2.

Meanwhile, many countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen, Palestine, Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, and several European nations, are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today.

In Makkah’s Masjid al-Haram and Madinah’s Masjid an-Nabawi ﷺ, thousands of local and international worshippers attended the Eid prayer gatherings.

In Pakistan, the Bohra community is also celebrating Eid today, while in the tribal district of Bajaur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Eid is being observed today as well. Additionally, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Aimal Wali has announced that he will celebrate Eid today in line with Saudi Arabia.
