Originally, the four-color “G” — with its signature blended gradient design — was created exclusively for Search. Android and iOS apps received updated home screen icons, and a new favicon appeared on the web. Now, this redesigned logo will serve as Google’s primary emblem, replacing the older, segmented version company-wide.
In a statement today, Google elaborated on the shift:
“The new ‘Google G’ now represents all of Google — both our brand and our company — and visually reflects our evolution into the AI era.”
The company says the “brighter colors and shield-like gradient design” symbolize a surge of AI-driven innovation and creative energy across its products and technologies. The design still honors Google’s iconic four-color palette, which hasn’t seen a major update in over a decade.
The refreshed look first appeared in “Gemini Spark” — the official name for what many referred to as the Gemini “Glow” — back in June, signaling the gradual retirement of the older blue-purple theme.
This visual rebranding will officially extend to more products, platforms, and services in the coming months. In fact, the Google Help support site is already using the new “G” as its favicon.
Bottom line: Google’s revamped logo is more than a cosmetic tweak — it’s a visual statement of the company’s identity in the age of AI, consolidating its design language under one bold, unified symbol.
