Trump Demands Microsoft Fire Global Affairs Chief Lisa Monaco

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday called on Microsoft to immediately dismiss Lisa Monaco, the company’s President of Global Affairs.

Trump argued that Monaco’s previous role as a senior national security adviser under Barack Hussein Obama, and later as Deputy Attorney General under Attorney General Merrick Garland — whom he derided as the “puppet master” of Joe Biden and Lisa Monaco — makes her current position unacceptable. He claimed that the job gives her access to “highly sensitive information,” which he described as “intolerable.”

“It is my strong opinion that Microsoft should terminate Lisa Monaco’s employment immediately,” Trump wrote.

Monaco has served in high-level government positions for both Obama and Biden, including her tenure as Deputy Attorney General in the Biden administration. Earlier this year, Trump revoked her security clearance, along with those of Biden, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and members of the Biden family.

A Microsoft spokesperson declined to comment. Monaco, who joined the company in May, currently oversees cybersecurity policy and Microsoft’s engagement with global governments.

The controversy intensified as far-right activist and Trump ally Laura Loomer repeatedly attacked Microsoft on X for hiring Monaco. In one post, Loomer criticized CEO Satya Nadella for being “born in India” and accused him of “shameful scammer behavior.” On Friday, she celebrated Trump’s remarks and renewed her demand that the president cancel all government contracts with Microsoft.

This isn’t the first time Trump has publicly targeted a tech executive since returning to office. He previously demanded that Intel President Lip Bo Tan resign “immediately” over alleged conflicts of interest. Intel later handed over 10% of its shares to the government in exchange for funding initiated under the Biden administration — prompting Trump to suddenly describe Tan as a “highly respected CEO.”
